Royal Domain Tries to Make It Two in a Row

After three consecutive seconds, Royal Domain finally his maiden on Oct. 5 -- accomplishing the feat in his seventh start for owners Alfredo Jesus and Sandra Soto and trainer Angela Aquino.

The 2-year-old Royal Quick Dash gelding will try to make it two victories in a row in tonight’s ninth, an $11,750 allowance at 350 yards.

Royal Domain will break from the rail in the field of seven. He’ll be ridden by Eddie Garcia, who has been aboard for his last two races.

Royal Domain is the only runner in the field fresh off a victory, but Throwin A Fit ran well in a trial for the PCQHRA Breeders’ Futurity in September. The half-brother to world champion Tailor Fit finished second to Chick Jet Set Baby on Sept. 13. Trained by Blane Schvaneveldt, Throwin A Fit will be ridden by Alex Bautista.

Calobogie, a full brother to All American Futurity participant First Down N Surfin, Romance Will Return, Great Tip, A First Secret and Bud Sniffer round out the field.

Shots in the dark: Basalisk Okba is better than her last outing would indicate and could rebound in the seventh. Flying Childers gets leading rider Ramon Sanchez for his local bow in the ninth.
