Pilot Ejects Safely in Marine Jet Crash

A Marine Corps jet crashed into the Pacific Ocean about 100 miles from San Diego, but Air Force Capt. Michael Suermann ejected safely, officials announced Thursday.
The F/A-18D Hornet, from a squadron based at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station, was on a routine training mission.
The pilot was rescued at sea and taken to Balboa Naval Hospital for evaluation.
