Trial Over Home Run Baseball Concludes

Closing arguments have ended in the 15-day trial over who owns Barry Bonds’ record-setting 73rd home-run ball, and Superior Court Judge Kevin McCarthy said he will return with a ruling on Dec. 18.
Berkeley restaurant owner Alex Popov sued Sacramento marketer Patrick Hayashi after a free-for-all in the stands in which Popov controlled the baseball briefly, but Hayashi finally emerged with the historic ball, estimated to be worth $1 million.
