1946 -- Enos Slaughter scored from first base on a single to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 4-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox.

1960 -- Second baseman Bill Mazeroski opened the bottom of the ninth inning with a home run off Ralph Terry of the New York Yankees to give the Pittsburgh Pirates a 10-9 victory.

1962 -- With the tying and winning runs in scoring position, San Francisco’s Willie McCovey hit a line drive at second baseman Bobby Richardson for the final out and the New York Yankees won, 1-0, for their 20th Series title.

1965 -- Sandy Koufax pitched his second shutout of the Series to give the Dodgers a 2-0 victory over the Minnesota Twins.

1972 -- The Oakland A’s won their first World Series with a 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

1975 -- A ninth-inning RBI single by Joe Morgan gave the Cincinnati Reds a 4-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox. It was the first title for the Reds in 35 years.

1987 -- The Minnesota Twins, behind Frank Viola, won their first championship by beating the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-2, becoming the first team to win four home games.

1997 -- Edgar Renteria singled with two out in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Florida Marlins their first championship with a 3-2 win over the Cleveland Indians. The Marlins became the youngest expansion team (five years) to win a championship.
