Are You Ready for Some Football? They Are

Looking at this year’s NFL predictions by Sam Farmer, we see Sammy has learned nothing from last year when he predicted Pittsburgh to go all the way. He’s back again, the guy who called the mediocre Kordell Stewart the MVP last year, ignoring one of the greatest performances ever by Kurt Warner.

Now Sammy has the Steelers and the Eagles playing in the Super Bowl. Although both have great defenses, they don’t have Warner. Quarterbacks make All-Pro wide receivers. Not vice versa.

But take a longshot, Sammy. Maybe one time you’ll be right.

I’ve never understood the antipathy expressed by Barry Sanders advocates against Smith. Part of what goes into having a great career is longevity. Smith continues to play on, and Sanders quit. It’s not Smith’s fault that Sanders chose to leave the game early. Smith has played through injuries and hung on through the Cowboys’ slide into mediocrity.
