Curve Fire More Than Half Contained
The Curve fire north of Azusa, which has burned 18,776 acres, was 52% contained by late Saturday, forest officials said.
Full containment is expected by Tuesday evening, U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Susie Wood said.
Five people have been injured and 73 structures have been destroyed.
More than 1,900 firefighters and staff battled the flames in the Angeles National Forest.
The fire broke out beside California 39 near Rincon from candles burning during an animal sacrifice ritual, investigators said.
The Leona Valley fire, which destroyed four homes and 12 outbuildings on Bouquet Canyon Road, was fully contained after burning more than 5,000 acres, Wood said. Firefighters were aided by cooler temperatures and sprinkles late in the week.
