Actor Gets 11 Years in Prison in Fatal Stabbing
A 26-year-old actor was sentenced Monday to 11 years in prison for fatally stabbing a man last year.
Deandre Marquise Bonds was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the Sept. 5, 2001, slaying of Anthony Lamar Lewis during a fight outside a home in South-Central Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Paul M. Enright handed down the sentence after Bonds’ attorney, Curtis Shaw, told the court that Bonds had been drinking to celebrate his “big break” and a fight broke out that “got out of hand.”
Bonds has had small roles in several movies and television shows, prosecutors said.
