UCI Research Funds Rise 9% to $212 Million

UC Irvine reports that its professors received 9% more in research funds than the previous academic year. The money received from contracts and grants increased by $18 million, to $212 million.
The federal government provides most of the research money received by colleges and universities; research funding at UCI has doubled in the last decade.
Nearly half of last year’s funding was awarded to faculty in medicine and biological sciences.
