Games in Hawaii Will Be Televised

Fox Sports Net 2 will televise the football game between Long Beach Poly and Kahuku (Hawaii) live at 8 p.m. PDT Friday from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.

Poly (1-0), No. 1 in The Times’ rankings, has won three consecutive Southern Section Division I titles. Kahuku (3-0) is the two-time defending Hawaiian state champion and has won 26 consecutive games.

High schools--Fox Sports Net 2 will televise the football game between Long Beach Poly and Kahuku (Oahu, Hawaii) live at 8 p.m. PDT Saturday from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, not Friday as reported in a Sports story Wednesday.

Fox Sports Net 2 also will televise the matchup between Concord De La Salle (1-0) and Honolulu St. Louis (2-0), scheduled to begin at approximately 11 p.m. (Pacific time).

St. Louis, a perennial private-school power, will try to end De La Salle’s national-record 126-game winning streak.

Seven of the 10 teams in The Times’ girls’ volleyball rankings will play in the Dave Mohs tournament, which starts Friday at Huntington Beach Edison, Newport Harbor, Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach Marina highs.

Tournament teams among those ranked by The Times are No. 3 Marymount, No. 4 Los Alamitos, No. 5 Anaheim Esperanza, No. 6 Newport Harbor, No. 7 Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley, No. 9 Santa Ana Mater Dei and No. 10 Torrance Bishop Montgomery.

“This will tell us all a little bit about ourselves,” Newport Harbor Coach Dan Glenn said. “Marymount’s one of the top teams around, and a lot of the top teams from Orange County will be there.”

Defending champion Goleta Dos Pueblos, ranked No. 8 by The Times, and No. 4 Camarillo are among the favorites in the San Marcos Invitational girls’ golf tournament Saturday at La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc.

The tournament is a two-player scramble designed to give players a break from regular stroke play.
