Murrieta Valley, led by senior Kellen Acosta, moves up two spots after posting the second-fastest team time in the Woodbridge Invitational.

Thousand Oaks makes the leap from No. 8 to No. 1 after a superb effort Saturday in the Mt. Carmel Invitational in San Diego. The cumulative time of Thousand Oaks’ top five runners was more than two minutes better than Canyon Country Canyon’s and 5 1/2 minutes faster than former No. 1 Dana Hills.

It’s not often that losing a match will get a team into the rankings, but Santa Margarita debuts this week at No. 7 after a 217-219 loss to Palm Desert. The impressive score came at Desert Willow, Palm Desert’s home course, a day after the Eagles shot 213 at Tijeras Creek. Dos Pueblos jumps from No. 8 to No. 3 after shooting a Channel League-record 203 at Glenn Annie and then winning the San Marcos Invitational.

It’s tournament time, an indicator of which teams could be playoff contenders. No. 1 Long Beach Wilson defeated Los Alamitos for the Gahr title. L.A. Marymount defeated Santa Ana Mater Dei in the Dave Mohs tournament championship in Orange County and vaulted over Mira Costa to claim No. 2. Dana Hills and St. Margaret’s jumped into the rankings after solid efforts at the Mohs event.

North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake swaps spots with Corona del Mar after defeating the visiting Sea Kings, 10-7, Thursday. Santa Ana Foothill nearly handed the Sea Kings a second consecutive loss Friday, but Corona del Mar prevailed in overtime, 11-7. Foothill’s effort, along with its 11-9 victory Tuesday against Lake Forest El Toro, catapults it past the Chargers and Newport Harbor.
