Tow Truck Hits, Kills Pedestrian
A man crossing a street in Santa Ana was killed Monday after being hit by a tow truck and dragged 100 feet.
Police said the man, who appeared to be a transient but had not yet been identified Monday night, was struck shortly after 11 a.m. while crossing the intersection of 17th and English streets.
“He was caught by the vehicle being towed,” Santa Ana Police Sgt. Baltazar de La Riva said. “We are trying to determine whether he was in the crosswalk or not.”
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, De La Riva said, and no citations were issued.
