Floater Will Try His Luck Around a Turn

Share

A winner in his last two races for owner Ed Allred and trainer Kelly Lewis, Floater will try to stretch his speed around a turn in tonight’s seventh, a $12,250 allowance at 870 yards.

A 3-year-old paint by the thoroughbred sire Salt Lake, Floater broke his maiden Dec. 29 against $10,000 claimers, then won against $8,000 claimers on Feb. 13.

Breaking from the inside in the field of five under jockey Ramon Guce, Floater looks to be the one to catch.

His opponents include Shy Anns Trust, who has lost 12 of 13, recent maiden winner Don Jose Davalos, who won in his third try at 870 yards on March 15, first-time starter Talk That Talk and Oak Canyon, who, like Floater, will be trying the distance for the first time.

Owned and trained by Laura Pinelli, Oak Canyon is a son of thoroughbred sire Grand Slam, so he also should relish the extra yardage.
