Two San Fernando Valley bus accidents, one involving high school students, left 30 people with minor injuries Tuesday, authorities said.
A Laidlaw Inc. bus driver and 14 Canoga Park High School students were examined for neck pains and shortness of breath after a truck clipped the rear of their bus shortly before 8 a.m. as it traveled west on the Ventura Freeway in Encino, authorities said. The truck driver was not injured.
The accident’s circumstances were under investigation, California Highway Patrol Officer John Seumanutafa said.
Three hours later, the collision of a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus and another vehicle in Van Nuys caused minor injuries to 15 people on the bus, authorities said.
The accident occurred at Van Nuys Boulevard and Valerio Street shortly after 11 a.m., said Jim Wells of the Los Angeles Fire Department. After the collision, the bus hit a traffic-signal pole. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
