SALINAS, Calif. — Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man who police said became a target because of his sexual orientation.
Salinas police said they made the arrests Thursday and Friday after a tip led them to a body buried in northern Monterey County.
Those arrested were Dominique England, 23, of Salinas, Daymon Schrock, 20, and Jeanne Soja, 29, of Angels Camp. All three face charges including murder, committing a hate crime, torture and kidnapping, police said.
Police would not discuss the case, but said in a written release that investigators “believe that one of the motives for this crime was the victim’s sexual orientation.”
