The New York Mets put right-hander David Cone and right fielder Jeromy Burnitz on the 15-day disabled list and said Roger Cedeno will be replaced in center field by Tsuyoshi Shinjo or Timo Perez.

Cone, 40, came out of Tuesday night’s 6-2 loss to Houston after two innings because of a sore left hip. He is 1-3 with a 6.75 earned-run average and his starting job could be in jeopardy because Pedro Astacio is expected back from the disabled list soon.

Burnitz was hit on the left hand by a pitch from Billy Wagner on Tuesday night and will be sidelined four to six weeks. Cedeno is hitting .177 with one home run and four runs batted in.
