Dale Brown Has Stroke at Home
Dale Brown, 67, former men’s basketball coach at Louisiana State, had a stroke at his home Thursday and was in intensive care Friday.
“His arms and legs are moving and his speech is improving,” said Joe Dean, the school’s former athletic director, who shares an office with Brown. Officials at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge would not release information, but Dean described Brown’s condition as stable.
Dean said Brown was at home Thursday morning when he began feeling ill. Brown’s wife called a doctor, who diagnosed the stroke.
Brown retired in 1997, after 25 seasons as LSU’s coach. He led LSU to NCAA Final Four appearances in 1981 and 1986, four Southeastern Conference regular season titles and the 1980 SEC tournament championship.
