A 66-year-old Simi Valley woman was beaten and held hostage at knifepoint in her home for seven hours Friday by one of two bank robbers sought by police, authorities said Saturday.

The victim was treated for a broken nose and facial bruises, Simi Valley Police Sgt. Randy Foushee said. The attack occurred after a Bank of America branch on Cochran Street was robbed.

Following the heist at 10:45 a.m. Friday, the robbers fled in a stolen car, which was immediately spotted by police. After tossing money and a gun out of the car, the robbers crashed it on Sebring Avenue and fled on foot, Foushee said.

A police dog found Vaness Daniels, 38, in a nearby backyard. Prison parolee Eddie Hunter, 39, allegedly broke into the victim’s house and attacked her, authorities said. The woman escaped at 7:30 p.m. and told officers of his whereabouts. Hunter was arrested outside the house.

The suspects, both from Los Angeles, remained jailed Saturday on bail of more than $100,000 each.
