Santa Barbara San Marcos avenged its only loss in nearly three seasons with a convincing 356-369 victory over Santa Barbara on Thursday. Earlier this season, Santa Barbara ended a 71-match Channel League winning streak for San Marcos with a 359-362 victory. Riverside Poly solidified its top spot with a 368-378 victory over Palm Desert.

Huntington Beach Edison shook off the effects of a short night to win the Santa Ana Foothill Games on Saturday. The Chargers, many of whom attended the school prom Friday, defeated Santa Margarita, 159-141.5. Goleta Dos Pueblos took care of its only challenger in the Channel League, Santa Barbara, with a 105-81 victory on Friday. Daniel Beal finished first in the 100 freestyle (45.04) and 200 freestyle (1:45.89) and Michael Bowen won the 100 butterfly (53.54) and 100 backstroke (55.32) for Dos Pueblos.

Santa Barbara swept the relays Friday en route to a 101-82 victory over Goleta Dos Pueblos in a key Channel League meet. Rachel Rys kept Dos Pueblos close with victories in the 200 individual medley (2:08.99) and 100 breaststroke (1:07.26). Anaheim Canyon, which looked strong while finishing fifth Saturday at the Foothill Swim Games, replaces Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley in the rankings.

Ranked teams continued to roll through league play. Palm Desert defeated Palm Springs and La Quinta last week in Desert Valley play. Santa Barbara beat Ventura Buena and Santa Barbara San Marcos in Channel matches, and, with a victory over Glendale Hoover, Arcadia is well on its way to reclaiming the Pacific League title it lost to the Tornadoes last season. Woodland Hills El Camino Real wrapped up its fourth consecutive West Valley League title with a victory over rival Granada Hills.

Long Beach Poly won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter relays in the Penn Relays on Saturday, but Compton Dominguez maintains its No. 1 ranking because the Dons still appear capable of outscoring the Jackrabbits in a meet featuring all of the top competitors in the Southland. Mission Viejo Trabuco Hills debuts in the rankings this season after finishing one point behind first-place Anaheim Esperanza in the Orange County championships.

Long Beach Poly maintains its No. 1 ranking after setting a national high school record of 3 minutes 35.55 seconds in the 1,600 relay and running 44.96 in the 400 relay, the third-fastest time ever, in the Penn Relays over the weekend. Anaheim Esperanza moves up four spots, thanks to senior Alison Costello, who has the fastest times in the Southland in the 1,600 and 3,200.

Valencia makes its first appearance in the rankings after a strong showing at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions, losing a two-hour final to Fresno Buchanan. Corona del Mar, fourth at the Tournament of Champions, checks into the rankings as well.
