Donovan’s Goal Leads Earthquakes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Landon Donovan scored in the 23rd minute Friday night to give the San Jose Earthquakes a 1-0 victory over the Kansas City Wizards in front of 13,813, giving them a league-high 33 points.
Donovan controlled a crossing pass from Brian Mullan three yards from the left post. Wizard goalkeeper Tony Meola saved Donovan’s first shot, but Donovan put the rebound into the net.
