Brewers Simply No Match for Redman

Mark Redman dominated the Milwaukee Brewers for the third time this season Saturday and the Florida Marlins won, 7-1, at Milwaukee, to remain tied with Philadelphia for the wild-card lead.

Redman (10-5) gave up one run and six hits in eight innings -- only two singles after the second inning. He walked one and struck out seven in sending the Brewers to their fourth straight loss.

On April 24 at Miami, Redman gave up two earned runs in nine innings in a 4-2 win over the Brewers, and yielded one unearned run in eight innings of a 12-4 win at Miller Park on June 10.

Montreal 3, Houston 1 -- Livan Hernandez threw a six-hitter for his fifth complete game of the season and the Expos ended an eight-game road losing streak.

Hernandez (12-7), who won for the sixth time in his last seven decisions, tied Philadelphia’s Kevin Millwood and San Francisco’s Jason Schmidt for the most complete games in the league.

St. Louis 3, Atlanta 1 -- The Cardinals ended an eight-game losing streak against the Braves that extended to May 2002 despite continued offensive woes. They’ve totaled 10 runs and 28 hits in the first five games of a six-game homestand, going 2-3.

Albert Pujols got an infield hit in the fourth to extend his hitting streak to a career-best 23 games. He leads the major leagues with a .370 average and is 35-for-90 (.389) during the streak.

Pittsburgh 10, Colorado 4 -- Reggie Sanders and Brian Giles each hit two-run home runs at Coors Field to help Jeff D’Amico (7-11) win for the first time in six starts. Sanders hit his 22nd homer in the fourth inning and Giles hit his 14th during the Pirates’ five-run sixth.

Arizona 2, New York 1 -- Steve Finley hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Diamondbacks their fifth win in seven games. He pulled a 2-2 pitch from John Franco (0-3) into the right-field seats.

Cincinnati 9, San Diego 5 -- Reggie Taylor, who entered as a pinch-runner in the seventh inning at San Diego, hit a grand slam in the eighth to help Aaron Harang get his first National League victory.

Harang (1-0), 1-3 with a 5.34 ERA with Oakland before he was traded to Cincinnati on July 30, gave up three runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings.
