Landowners Propose Development Deal
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The owners of 2,650-acre Dos Pueblos Ranch on the Gaviota coast have proposed placing 2,000 acres in an agricultural preserve in exchange for the right to develop 19 lots for homes.
Much of the ranch now has avocado orchards.
The manager of Dos Pueblos said that he and his three siblings have dual purposes: They may want to build homes when they inherit the property and they may have to sell off some of their land to pay inheritance taxes.
