Gay Lifts Lions in Two Overtimes

Sherman Gay scored a career-high 26 points, including a layup at the buzzer to send the game into the first overtime, and Loyola Marymount defeated host Denver, 84-82, in double overtime Tuesday night.
Charles Brown had a season-high 21 points for the Lions (6-2), including six over the final 1:39.
Gay, who fouled out with 2:13 left in the first overtime, had two blocked shots, tying Loyola Marymount’s career record of 97 set by Chris Knight (1989-92).
Brett Starkey had 25 points for Denver (4-4).
Louisiana State 65, Utah 51 -- Jaime Lloreda scored 16 points and Brandon Bass scored 15 to lead the Tigers (5-0) at Baton Rouge, La.
Utah (6-3) shot 34.8% from the field and was outrebounded, 42-30.

Oregon State 71, No. 19 Utah 62 -- Mandy Close scored a career-high 21 points and the host Beavers (5-3) shot 62.8% from the field.
Shona Thorburn had 24 points for the Utes (6-3), who shot 38.9%.
No. 20 UC Santa Barbara 71, Cincinnati 70 -- Kristen Mann’s three-point basket with 1:12 seconds left in overtime lifted the Gauchos (5-2) at Cincinnati (6-3).
Lindsay Taylor led Santa Barbara with 23 points. Mia Fisher had 17 and Mann 16.
No. 21 Oregon 68, Santa Clara 56 -- Andrea Bills had 18 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Ducks (8-1), off to their best start in 20 years, at Santa Clara (3-5).
