Michael Olowokandi is scheduled to undergo an exploratory arthroscopic procedure on his sprained right knee today at Oakland, the results of which will determine whether he is sidelined for four more games or perhaps much longer than four weeks.

Olowokandi sat out most of training camp and has been placed on the injured list twice because of knee trouble, at first termed tendinitis. The Clipper medical staff wants to have a closer look to determine the problem.

Meanwhile, the team tinkered with its roster Sunday for the second time in three days, placing veteran forward Cherokee Parks back on the injured list because of back spasms and activating rookie forward Chris Wilcox.

Parks scored eight points on three-for-three shooting and took six rebounds in 21 minutes during the Clippers’ loss Friday to the Phoenix Suns, his first game since going on the injured list because of back spasms Dec. 13.

Wilcox went on the injured list because of back spasms Jan. 24. He has averaged only 2.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in 18 games.

He did not play in the closing moments of Sunday’s 100-86 loss to the Toronto Raptors.

Asked about the move Sunday, Coach Alvin Gentry merely smiled and offered a “no comment.” He then added, “I’m trying to have a good day.”

Elton Brand on Toronto’s Voshon Lenard, who scored 23 of his 30 points in the second half: “I mean he’s coming in off the bench and dropping 30 points on us. We played great defense on him. He just hit some big shots, and he was doing that when a lot of guys were hurting and he kept doing it.”

The Clippers are 0-5 when wearing their blue alternate jerseys, prompting calls from some club employees (who asked to remain nameless) to torch them in a postgame ceremony.
