No. 1, 503 yards, par 5

* In an inauspicious start that signals the type of round ahead, Woods hooks a three-wood out of bounds. His second tee shot heads into the right rough. A long iron from 229 yards comes up short and he hits a high flop over the flag that comes to rest 14 feet from the hole. He misses the putt and taps in for double bogey on one of the easiest holes on the course.

No. 2, 463 yards, par 4

* A perfect three-wood draws down the middle of the fairway. His approach shot lands 14 feet from the pin and Woods has to make a four-foot putt to save par.

No. 3, 434 yards, par 4

* Woods pushes his three-wood tee shot into the right rough, then stays on the tee box practicing his swing. His approach shot from a bad lie is 35 feet left of the hole. His first putt goes eight feet past the hole and Woods pushes the par attempt right. He taps in for a bogey.

* A high iron shot off the tee comes up short of the green. Woods chips from the front fringe to within two feet and makes the putt for a par.

No. 5, 434 yards, par 4

* A two-iron tee shot draws into the first cut of rough on the left side of the fairway. The approach shot is in the middle of the green, 15 feet short of the hole. Woods drains the putt for birdie.

No. 6, 199 yards, par 3

* Woods’ iron shot lands on the left side of the green, 18 feet from the hole. The tricky, left-to-right breaking downhill putt rolls six feet past the cup, and Woods misses the par putt coming back.

* Using driver for the first time, Woods takes an aggressive line over the right side bunker. The ball ends up in the first cut of rough on the right. Woods takes dead aim at the flag and the ball checks up within 10 feet. He knocks in the putt for a birdie.

* Fans cheer as Woods takes driver out of the bag, but his shot lands in the front right bunker. After stopping mid-swing when a fan sneezes, Woods blasts out to within 15 feet and makes the putt for a second consecutive birdie.

* A 323-yard drive leaves Woods 238 yards from the flag. He reaches the green in two with a long iron shot and has a 20-foot putt for eagle, but he two-putts for his third birdie in a row.

* Woods yells “Fore” and points right as soon as his drive leaves the tee box. After briefly taking a seat in a marshal’s chair, Woods muscles a shot from the right rough over the front bunker into the fringe. He pitches to within 10 feet but leaves the putt just short. He taps in for bogey.

* A high drive hooks into the left rough and comes to rest against the base of a large eucalyptus tree. The only play Woods has is to turn a nine-iron upside down and hit it left-handed. He pitches the ball into the middle of the fairway but advances it only 40 yards. His nine-iron shot into the green lands within 17 feet of the hole and he two-putts for a second consecutive bogey.

No. 14, 176 yards, par 3

* A perfect tee shot heads directly at the flag and checks up seven feet left of the hole. He pulls the putt left and taps in for a par.

No. 15, 487 yards, par 4

* A 305-yard drive down the middle leaves Woods a good look at the flag, but he pulls his approach shot left and misses the green. He chips to within four feet and makes the putt for par.

No. 16, 166 yards, par 3

* An aggressive play to a back right pin comes up short and buries in the greenside bunker. Woods plays the shot quickly, without any practice swings, and knocks it to within three feet. He makes the putt for par.

No. 17, 576 yards, par 5

* A perfect 315-yard drive down the middle leaves Woods 260 yards to the hole. He pulls his long iron shot left into the rough near the grandstands. A high flop shot hits left of the hole and rolls 10 feet past. His birdie effort comes up just short and Woods taps in for a fourth consecutive par.

A 311-yard tee shot up the steep hill leaves Woods a short iron approach. He hits it at the flag on the back left of the green and it comes to rest six feet from the hole. Woods makes it for birdie and draws a loud cheer from the gallery around the 18th green. He smiles, holds both hands out with palms pointed toward the sky and sighs in relief.
