Landfill Operator Seeks Extension on Hearing
The operator of the only municipal dump in Los Angeles has asked for more time to tell residents why it needs to expand the Bradley Landfill’s height by 10 feet.
The state Integrated Waste Management Board was scheduled to debate the permit today, but Waste Management Inc. asked to postpone the issue until the board’s meeting March 18 and March 19.
The landfill’s manager says the community is confusing the permit application with another that would extend the dump’s lifespan to 2007 and add 43 feet to its maximum height.
