From Times Staff Reports
A Metrolink train plowed into a stopped car Thursday, killing a Walnut man in an apparent suicide, authorities said.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said the 37-year-old man ignored gates and the train’s horn, driving north in the southbound lane of Stimson Avenue. The westbound train, going 79 mph, hit the car at 5:33 a.m. No one else was injured.
