A 75-year-old woman was killed Saturday when a Metrolink train struck her as she was getting out of her car, which was stopped on the tracks, authorities said.

The Metrolink train, carrying 80 people, was traveling north when it hit the woman, whose name was not released, at 4:25 p.m. at Sierra Highway and Palmdale Boulevard, said Sgt. Jeff Acton of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

No one on the train was injured, Acton said.

Witnesses said the woman tried to back up, but was blocked by other vehicles, Acton said.
