From Times Wire Reports

A landowner hiking on his property Tuesday discovered marijuana growing and irrigation hoses that led to the seizure of 6,420 plants.

The confiscation was called a good start to Sonoma County’s Narcotics Task Force marijuana eradication season.

“This was a pretty good number of plants. The largest one we had was of 7,000 plants six or seven years ago,” said Sgt. Chris Bertoli, a task force member.

The street value of the plants if they had been allowed to mature would have been $2.8 million, Bertoli said. Each of the 3,200 female plants would have yielded about four ounces of manicured bud marijuana, Bertoli said, for a total of 800 pounds.
