BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Kaelen Daniels, Artesia: Had a career-high 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting and had 10 rebounds in a 74-60 victory over Atascadero in a Southern Section Division III-AA semifinal.

Wendell White, Redondo: Had 35 points and nine rebounds in a 74-64 Division II-A quarterfinal win over Compton Dominguez.

Chad DeCasas, Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley: The freshman scored all eight of his points in the fourth quarter, including two free throws with 10 seconds left, in a 62-58 Division I-A quarterfinal victory over San Bernardino Cajon. Davis Baker led the winners with 23 points.

Jason Heard, North Hollywood Campbell Hall: Had 18 points and 13 rebounds for the No. 2-seeded Vikings in a 57-52 Division IV-A semifinal game at Ontario Christian.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Jaime Vargas, L.A. Locke: Scored two goals, the last on a shot into the left corner after a breakaway in the 78th minute that broke a 2-2 tie, to help Locke to a 3-2 win at South Gate in a City Championship quarterfinal game.

Mike Chiodo, Irvine Northwood: Scored twice in a 3-1 Southern Section Division II quarterfinal victory over Lawndale Leuzinger, the Division I co-champion last season.
