Krog Keeps End of Deal

Almost all the deals that made headlines for the Mighty Ducks last summer have paid off this season. Yet, it is one of the fine-print signings that has been a key in their grind for the playoffs.

Center Jason Krog spent the last three seasons in the American Hockey League, with occasional visits to Long Island to play for the New York Islanders. The Ducks signed him for $500,000.

“It’s weird the way things worked out,” Krog said. “Sometimes getting a change of scenery is all it takes.”

Krog has eight goals and has plugged the hole created when Andy McDonald went down with a concussion.

Krog, 27, assisted on Samuel Pahlsson’s game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over the Kings on Tuesday. He has had several key moments since being recalled from minor league Cincinnati on Nov. 10.

He had two goals in a 5-3 victory over Colorado on Jan. 9, the night McDonald suffered the concussion, had a three-assist game in a 3-2 victory over Phoenix on Feb. 7 and the game-winning goal two nights later in a 2-1 victory over Carolina.
