AMC Program to Do Close-Up on Hollywood

The AMC cable network will examine the inner workings of Hollywood in a weekly series with hosts Peter Guber, a producer, and Variety Editor Peter Bart.

AMC, a unit of Rainbow Media Holdings, confirmed plans for “Sunday Morning Shoot-Out,” which is scheduled to premiere in October.

The weekly show will feature “high-powered guests” engaging in discussions about Hollywood with Guber and Bart.

Bart said the time for such a program is ripe because there is “an absence of coherent commentary about movies and the entertainment business.”

“The focus will be to deal provocatively with the issues of the day,” he said.

AMC has dropped the name American Movie Classics, adopting the slogan “TV for movie people” and broadening its programming mix beyond films that merit the “classic” designation.
