Alleged Shoplifter Who Escaped Is Arrested
A Laguna Niguel massage therapist who escaped with handcuffs dangling from one wrist when a Bloomingdale’s security guard attempted to detain her on suspicion of shoplifting was arrested Wednesday after a week on the loose, authorities said.
Kim Ann Barro, 36, was charged with theft, and bail was set at $5,000, Newport Beach Police Sgt. Steve Shulman said.
Police said Barro stole a scarf valued at $140 from the Fashion Island store Nov. 11.
But Barro managed to escape when a store security guard attempted to place the handcuffs on her.
