New host checks out ‘The View’

The tribe has spoken: Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the new co-host on “The View.”

Hasselbeck, who made it to the finale on “Survivor: The Australian Outback,” was chosen Monday after a three-month search for a replacement for Lisa Ling, the youngest member of the ABC talk show’s panel who left last year.

“I feel good sitting here,” Hasselbeck, 26, a former shoe designer and host of the Style Channel’s “The Look for Less,” said after taking her seat at the table with her colleagues, Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones and Joy Behar. She watched a recorded message from her husband, Washington Redskins quarterback Tim Hasselbeck, congratulating her on the job.
