Broken Foot Sidelines LeClair

Philadelphia Flyer forward John LeClair is expected to be out two to four weeks because of a broken left foot.

LeClair was hit by a puck Sunday during a practice in West Point, N.Y., team physician Peter DeLuca said.

An X-ray taken Sunday, was negative, DeLuca said, but LeClair was still in pain. Another X-ray taken Wednesday revealed a broken bone in the foot.

“There’s no cast. He’s in a walking boot. He can put weight on it,” DeLuca said.

LeClair, 34, said he was disappointed especially since he sat out 47 games last season after shoulder surgery. He returned to play in 14 regular-season and 13 playoff games.

“Obviously, I’ve had some injuries over the last couple of years, and the last thing I want to do is start the season with an injury,” LeClair said.

Jarome Iginla became the first black captain in NHL history when the forward was tabbed to wear the ‘C’ by the Calgary Flames.
