OutKast’s “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” tops the nation’s pop sales chart for the second consecutive week, turning back strong first-week showings by Bad Boy’s Da Band, Sting and Dido.

The OutKast album, which consists of separate solo discs by the Atlanta hip-hop team of Andre 3000 and Big Boi, sold 235,000 copies last week to bring its two-week total to 746,000 copies. The set is being widely heralded by critics as an album of the year contender.

Bad Boy’s Da Band, a group hand-picked by Bad Boy label head P. Diddy, claimed the second spot on the chart when its “Too Hot for TV” album sold 204,000 in its first week. Sting’s “Sacred Love” and Dido’s “Life for Rent” finished third and fourth, based on first-week sales of 195,000 and 192,000, respectively.

The only other newcomer in the Top 10 this week is country singer Martina McBride’s “Martina,” at No. 7. Bette Midler’s salute to Rosemary Clooney finished No. 14. Country singer Gary Allan’s “See If I Care” is No. 17 in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Looking ahead, rapper Ludacris’ “Chicken & Beer,” which was released Tuesday, is expected to enter the chart at No. 1 next week.
