Sabres Finally Get on the Scoreboard

Miroslav Satan and Daniel Briere each had a goal and an assist as the Buffalo Sabres won their first game of the season, 4-3, over the Dallas Stars on Monday at Buffalo, N.Y. The Sabres had been shut out in their first two games.
“I thought it was a really great win against a team that was really rolling,” Sabre Coach Lindy Ruff said. “We battled through a lot and had a lot of good efforts out there.”
Ales Kotalik ended the Sabres’ scoreless streak at 124 minutes, 36 seconds with a goal in the first period.
Columbus 3, Vancouver 2 -- Todd Marchant had a goal and two assists for the Blue Jackets at Columbus, Ohio.
It was the fastest the Blue Jackets (2-1) have won two games in their four years. It took them five games last year, 14 games the year before and 10 games in their first season.
Washington 2, Toronto 2 -- Olaf Kolzig made 34 saves for the Capitals at Toronto.
Carolina 2, Florida 2 -- Roberto Luongo of the Panthers stopped 33 shots at Raleigh, N.C., to keep the Hurricanes winless.
