Ab What A Runner Is Living Up to Her Name

Ab What A Runner, unbeaten in seven starts, is one of 17 3-year-olds who will be trying to qualify for the Los Alamitos Derby in a pair of trials tonight.

Owned by Kris and Donnie Hill and trained by Bret Vickery, Ab What A Runner, an Arizona-bred, won the 2002 All American Futurity at Ruidoso, N.M., and has earned nearly $1.1 million.

G.R. Carter will be aboard Ab What A Runner as she breaks from Post 6 in the first of the two 400-yard trials. The 10 fastest qualifiers will move on to the finals Nov. 8.

In the second trial, the California-bred Mongoose Jet Eye will seek his seventh win in eight starts against I Ought To Be First, Royal Miracle Dip, Mr Pie Chick, First To Flash, Deefirst, Doreme Fasolasi Win, Ipomea and First Place Queen.
