KEYS TO THE GAME

Share

Mike DiGiovanna’s keys to the game, and how the Bruins measured up:

Get more from Moore: Quarterback Matt Moore completed a 52-yard pass to Craig Bragg on his first play from scrimmage and seemed to add a spark to the passing attack in his first start since being injured in the season opener. The Bruins also had pass plays of 37 and 26 yards and were more willing to call deep patterns. Moore was intercepted twice when ASU defenders had him within their grasp.

Secondary can’t come up Short: Cornerbacks Keith Short and Matt Clark succeeded in denying the big play. Short, filling in for Matt Ware, had another strong game. The Sun Devils’ longest reception was 22 yards.

Get to Walter: With defensive tackle Rodney Leisle knocked out early in the first quarter because of an ankle injury, Arizona State was effective running the ball in the first half, taking pressure off quarterbacks Andrew Walter and Sam Keller. Linebacker Brandon Chillar had the Bruins’ only sack. But the Bruins went after Keller in the second half, recording three sacks, two by Ryan Boschetti.
