Shape of the new Regatta ship

Share

I read Harry Basch’s review of the Regatta [“New Oceania Line Takes to the Seas,” Cruise Views, Sept. 7] with great interest because my husband and I had just returned from a cruise with Oceania Cruises. After reading the review, I wondered if Basch had actually sailed on the Regatta or even been aboard. Because I have [traveled] with Renaissance Cruises, I was familiar with the ship and noticed that a lot of the carpeting and upholstery had been retained from the ship’s former life and shows a little wear.

That said, the ship is comfortable, especially for former Renaissance passengers, and the crew, while still working out the kinks, is friendly and eager to make your trip as pleasant as they can.

Also, providing prices at per-day rates gives potential cruisers a false sense of the actual prices because the itineraries are all two weeks long at this time, and the line is also running two-for-one specials for this season.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our sailing on the Regatta to Scandinavian capitals and St. Petersburg, Russia, and look forward to sailing with the company again.
