From Outdoors’ “Just Back” on the Web: We three women backpackers didn’t see a soul as we summited San Jacinto Peak on Sept. 11. It wasn’t until 2 p.m. about halfway down that we saw our first people of the day. The sky was cloudless, the environment glorious, the solitude and silence amazing.
