Santa Ana police are baffled by the death of a man found in his driveway with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

Luis Hernandez, 27, died Wednesday at a hospital, two days after he was shot as he returned home from a laundermat.

Sgt. Baltazar De La Riva said Hernandez was removing his laundry from his car when he was attacked by a gunman at 8:47 p.m. Monday in the 1400 block of West Borchard. The gunman fled in a white four-door compact driven by an accomplice, De La Riva said.

“We’re stumped by this killing,” he said. “The victim had no known gang affiliation, and we know of no motive for the killing. We’re hoping that somebody out there can provide us with some information.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Santa Ana police at (714) 245-8300.
