Clippers Lose 10th Straight

It took a bit longer for the Clippers to get their 10th consecutive loss.

In overtime, Eddy Curry made a hook shot over Elton Brand with 23 seconds left to give the Bulls a 114-110 victory Friday night.

Brand finished with 25 points and 19 rebounds. But after Curry’s basket, he missed a layup with 11 seconds left that would have tied it.

“It should have never gone to overtime. You have to give them credit,” Brand said. “They executed better than we did at the end.”

Jannero Pargo made an open three-pointer with 1.1 left in regulation to tie the score at 104 just seconds after Doug Overton missed a free throw that would have sealed the game.

“Jannero does not hesitate,” Bulls’ Coach Scott Skiles said. “He has shown that if he misses a couple of shots, it does not faze him, and he keeps shooting. He does not ‘hope it up’ there. He shoots aggressively.”

But Curry was Skiles’ go-to shooter with the score tied at 110 in overtime.

“I think he saw that the ball was going in and out for me and it was only a matter of time before I made it,” said Curry, who finished with 27 points. “It felt real good for him to have that confidence in me.”

After Brand’s miss, Jamal Crawford made two free throws with seven seconds left to seal the win.

Crawford had 24 points and 12 assists, Kirk Hinrich 21 points and Pargo 20 points.

“Though they had four guys in the 20s, I was more surprised at how poorly we defended them. We didn’t do a good job stopping them,” Coach Mike Dunleavy said.

Corey Maggette, who missed a wild three-pointer at the end of regulation, matched his career high with 34 points to lead the Clippers.
