Fillmore Man Arrested After Woman Is Shot
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Fillmore man suspected in the shooting of a 19-year-old woman over the weekend, authorities said Monday.
Jose Jimenez, 19, was taken into custody Sunday and booked on charges of attempted murder in connection with the shooting of Francine Portela of Fillmore earlier in the day, authorities said. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
Portela was shot in the back of the neck about 4 p.m. while sitting in a vehicle at a gas station in the 400 block of Ventura Street in Fillmore, authorities said. She was taken to a local hospital, where she is listed in serious condition.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
