BASEBALL

* Chase d’Arnaud, Los Alamitos: Had a two-run double during a five-run sixth inning in an 8-7 upset of No. 10 Santa Ana Mater Dei in the La Palma Kennedy tournament. The Griffins, who trailed, 7-2, going into the sixth, scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Adam Denton in the seventh.

* Casey Haether, West Hills Chaminade: Was three for four with two doubles, one run scored and three runs batted in and Trevor Arroyo added three hits and four runs scored for the No. 23 Eagles in a 7-3 victory over Long Beach Wilson in the La Palma Kennedy tournament.

* Phillip Van Doren, La Mirada: Senior left-hander (7-0) threw a six-hitter, striking out four, walking one and giving up only two earned runs in a 13-3 victory over La Canada St. Francis in the St. Paul tournament. Van Doren also had two doubles among his four hits, scored four runs and drove in two for the No. 24 Matadors.

SOFTBALL

* Christina Gelvin, Wilmington Banning: Singled in the winning run in the sixth inning and Jojo Pina pitched a four-hitter, striking out two, for the Pilots in a 2-1 Marine League upset of No. 8 Carson. Danira Iolamo threw a four-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks for the Colts.

* Christina Ross, Valencia: Pitched a perfect game with 12 strikeouts for the No. 14 Vikings in a 2-0 Foothill League victory over Canyon Country Canyon.

* Christine Farrell, La Habra Sonora: Pitched a perfect game, her third straight no-hitter, with 14 strikeouts and hit two homers to finish with four runs batted in for the Raiders in a 9-0 Freeway League win over Buena Park.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

* Landon Pusieseina, Redondo: Had 14 kills and Collin Cooper added 10 kills in a 25-19, 25-23, 25-21 Bay League upset of No. 5 Manhattan Beach Mira Costa, which suffered its first loss to the Sea Hawks in five years.
