Father, Son Named in Anaheim Crash
The two people killed in an Anaheim traffic collision Tuesday were identified as an Anaheim man and his 9-year-old son. Another son was injured when the father swerved to avoid a car, police said Wednesday.
James Crotty Jr., 39, and son James Crotty III were pronounced dead at the scene of the 7:45 p.m. accident Tuesday on Ball Road near Western Avenue, police said.
An 8-year-old son in the back seat was taken to a hospital, officials said. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The father’s Chevrolet Camaro was heading west on Ball Road when a car pulled out of a driveway, said Sgt. Rick Martinez. When Crotty swerved, his car spun out of control and collided with a Toyota Camry heading east on Ball Road, Martinez said.
The 40-year-old woman in the Camry, who was not identified, was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana with serious injuries, police said.
Martinez said Crotty may have been speeding. Police have ruled out drugs or alcohol as being a factor in the crash.
