From Times Wire Reports

Prosecutors have dismissed federal corruption charges against the late City Councilman Charles Lewis, as required by law.

This week’s hearing was the first since Lewis died Aug. 8 of cirrhosis of the liver. He was 37.

Lewis and two of his City Council colleagues, Ralph Inzunza and Michael Zucchet, were indicted Aug. 28, 2003, on charges that they accepted money from strip club owner Michael Galardi and two of his employees to repeal the city’s no-touch law in strip clubs.

The councilmen pleaded not guilty and said money they received was reported as campaign contributions. A trial date has not been set.
