From Times Wire Reports

A chemical plant fire and explosion at Marcus Oil & Chemical in a Houston-area neighborhood produced huge clouds of smoke but was not expected to have any major effect on the environment, fire authorities said.

The plant makes polyethylene waxes used in paint and ink. Millions of bags of wax melted and flowed outside, creating a coating six to eight inches thick in the parking lot.
