Red rock towers or snowcapped peaks inspire awe along the highway, but there’s other scenery out there, and you don’t have to take your eyes off the road to enjoy it. RVs go to the same national parks that you do. Just filter out the taillights and mounted ladders while gazing at the splendor of their sleek bodies or squarish cabooses. Why trudge all the way to Mt. Rushmore when you can spend hours tailgating a panorama of chiseled visages with eagles airbrushed in?

According to numerous eyewitness accounts, RV murals fall into four rough categories: painted (akin to folk art), like the golfer in his own forested green; airbrushed Americana, or any motif involving patriotic symbols; airbrushed North American species, such as egrets (not shown); and airbrushed exotic species, such as the Siberian tiger. Amazingly, RV art patrons expect little in return for commissioning these public works. A honk and a wave will do.
