‘Rings,’ ‘River’ share honors

“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” and “Mystic River” won the Art Directors Guild awards for feature film production design over the weekend.

Grant Major took home the nod in the category of period or fantasy film for “The Return of the King.” He is also one of the Oscar nominees for art direction for his work on the same film.

Henry Bumstead was honored for “Mystic River” in the contemporary film category.

Four production designers were honored for their TV work: Bernt Capra for “Carnivale,” single camera series; Dawn Snyder, “Arrested Development” (“In God We Trust” episode), multicamera series; Stuart Wurtzel, “Angels in America,” TV movie or miniseries; Roy Christopher, “75th Annual Academy Awards,” variety or awards show, music special or documentary.
