Inkys Beda Roses, an impressive winner at 220 yards three weeks ago, will try for a repeat in tonight’s eighth, a $50,000 claimer for older mares.
Owned by Juan Alberto Tirado Lizarraga and trained by Juan Aleman, Inkys Beda Roses, a 5-year-old Oregon-bred, made her first start of the year Feb. 8 and was a one-length winner at 5-1. It was the eighth win in 22 starts for the daughter of Beda Champ.
Inkys Beda Roses will break from the rail under Hector Cuevas. The rest of the field, from the inside out, are Judys Cash, a troubled third behind Inkys Beda Roses, Shawnee Slade, Trip Dlite Fantastic and Miss Kipty Yawl.
Shawnee Slade, a 4-year-old Red Hot Rhythm filly, has won her two 2004 starts for trainer Adan Farias and hasn’t been worse than third in her last eight outings.
The picks: 1. Fabulous Lady. 2. Scoopmeup Willie. 3. Fasten. 4. Willy Won’t Gossip. 5. Pinash. 6. Jims Ladies Man. 7. Sey Mag Proof. 8. Shawnee Slade. 9. J M Larrys Legacy.
Four! Jims Ladies Man, Down First Chicks and Chicks Mighty Mo in the sixth, Sey Mag Proof in the seventh, Inkys Beda Roses and Shawnee Slade in the eighth and J M Larrys Legacy, Ryans Ridge and Perry Nelson in the ninth.
Shots in the dark: Red And Hot broke his maiden with jockey Alex Bautista, who is back in the saddle in the second. Sheer Brillance tries a shorter trip for trainer Patricia Visscher in the fifth.
